Away from work I love cycling and I try to get out on my bike as often as I can. I take part in cycle sportives with my favourite distance being 100mile. I like to challenge myself so I did a ride, raising money for a local charity, from London to Paris, 300 miles, over 4 days in 2010. As time doesn’t always permit me to go out on the bike I teach spin classes as well as attending a local gym. If you try to talk to me while Le Tour de France is on you won’t get much sense out of me. My favourite riders are Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas and Mark Cavendish. I don’t mind which team wins so long as one of those guys rides for them.

From 2010 to 2015 I was Chair of Governors of a local school. As Chair I was responsible for and lead the governing body of the school. I met regularly with the head teacher to advise on strategy and aid in decision making. I also help with interviews and other formal school engagements.

I do a lot of cooking, experimenting with fusions of foods and flavours. I have a keen interest in motorsport from F1 to Britcar and anything in between so long as it has 4 wheels with Le Mans being an annual trip I try not to miss.
